Without a specialized application, the only way to secure private data is to hide it in a maze of folders. SecureNotes offers a complete solution for protecting sensitive information. Unlike other similar applications, which focus mainly on usernames and passwords, SecureNotes can protect any kind of information, from simple thoughts to bank accounts.

The software can be installed in a few seconds and it can be used on all popular Windows versions. The installation procedure does not involve any complex configurations and you don't have to install any prerequisite tools. You should also know that SecureNotes is distributed as a freeware application.

The user interface has a familiar layout. You may create folders, sub-folders and notes in a tree structure, on the left side of the window and view a selected note's contents on a preview pane, on the right side. Details, like usernames or passwords, are not hidden with special characters, but you can hide the entire preview pane at any time, by clicking a button, located on a toolbar.

New entries are defined on a tabbed window, on which you can type entire text paragraphs, insert specific information, like passwords, addresses and so on, attach files and select an icon. While typing your personal notes, on the first tab, you can right click anywhere in the editing area and select various options, to perform a spell check or select a different formatting.

Account details can be inserted in a series of input fields, after selecting a template from a drop menu. You will find different input fields, depending on the selected template. The best part is that SecureNotes allows you to create new templates, with your own input fields, or modify existing ones.

You can store your notes in one or more databases, which are saved as encrypted files, on the hard drive. The software comes with a virtual keyboard as well, which you can use when you open a database, to prevent keyloggers from capturing your master password.

Pros

The program allows you to create database entries, based on your own templates. You can store your notes in one or more encrypted databases. Thanks to the application's built-in virtual keyboard, you can prevent keyloggers from capturing your master password.

Cons

Usernames and passwords are not hidden with special characters. SecureNotes can keep any kind of information safe, in a highly encrypted database.
